Giant vs. Humans

Developed between January 2020 and May 2020

Trailer

Giants vs. Humans is an online VR game in which players will need to work together to defeat another player playing as the Giant. The humans will need to complete puzzles and use weapons to defeat the giant, whilst the giant will need to stop the humans achieving their objective and attack them whenever possible.

All players will be using VR headsets and controllers to play, with the scale of the Giant being much bigger than the Humans. Game is played online with voice chat interactivity added for communication.

Overview

Virtual Reality is something I have experienced before through some games, but developing a game for the platform was something completely new for me, and something I was very excited to take on as a new experience and challenge to overcome. Our team was composed of two designers, two programmers, and one artist. Both programmers had experience in creating VR projects, and also had their own headsets, meaning that ongoing testing was very possible to do. My contributions to this project were creating map layouts for the game, both with Lego pieces and also in-game, adding lighting to the night time map, and frequent playtesting throughout development.

Development of this project lasted from January 2020 until May 2020, and was completed initially in studio, but later remotely. The final project featured functional VR mechanics, working online networking and chat and one large scale map using asset packs with buildings that could be entered and verticality.
